Left-brain/Right-brain. You've probably heard the term before. It refers to the theory that says different sides of your brain control different aspects of you!
For example, if you are 'left-brained' you are more logical, analytical and objective. If you are 'right-brained' you're intuitive, thoughtful, and subjective. The psychological term for this kind of split is 'hemispheric dominance' - either the left-side (left-hemisphere) of your brain or the right-side (right-hemisphere) of your brain dominates your personality.
The early work in this field was done by Roger W. Sperry - a Nobel Prize winner in 1981. Recent research has suggested that the brain isn't actually split quite as simply as this. When doing mathematics, for example, the brain seems to work far more efficiently when both hemispheres work together.
